We are investigating what help and support is available for the elderly and disabled on the Costa Del Sol and Inland?
In November we have My partners father arriving to live with us in Spain. He is 86 years old and slightly disabled. We are building a custom built studio for him to stay in at our new finca. I am currently investigating what help and support is available for the elderly and disabled on the Costa Del Sol and Inland for him. So far I have come across http://www.supportinspain.com a website built by the British Consulate Malaga and the University of Birmingham. Also, There is a charity group http://www.agecarecosta.org/
Age Care Association offers help, support, information and advice. Our ultimate objective is to give support in a wide variety of ways to the older English speaking community from Benalmadena to Calahonda and beyond.
Age Care Association is a fully registered, non- profit making organisation staffed entirely by volunteers. The majority of our work is helping older British people living in the Province of Malaga, but we do not exclude other nationalities that speak English.
The Charity was founded in 2001 and from humble beginnings when a group of volunteers got together to support and help older people who needed help and support raising money by holding charitable events. Since then has gone from strength to strength, opening a Charity Shop to raise funds and with many more volunteers and now we are able to offer more welfare support, information, practical and medical support.
CURRENTLY, THEY HAVE COFFEE MORNINGS AT FIVE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS WHERE PEOPLE CAN CHAT, SHARE EXPERIENCES AND GET INFORMATION OR ADVICE. OUR VOLUNTEERS CAN GIVE CONFIDENTIAL HELP AND ADVICE ABOUT MANY DIFFERENT PROBLEMS.
This is going to be an ongoing blog gathering information as time goes by. If you have any information to contribute to our blog we would be very grateful to hear from you.
